1. What would you do if you suddenly discovered a vaccine for Covid-19?

It may be easy to say, “I will share it with the world!” Or some might even plan to make a lot of money by selling it. Regardless, there would be no question that any well meaning person would make it public. However, all the people who are vaccinated from the virus will eventually die of something else or old age.

We have the cure for spiritual death, which is a fate far worse than anything on the world past, present, and future. If we have this cure/vaccine and we do not share it, we would be infinite times more cruel than keeping the vaccine for COVID-19 secret.

2. Would you rather have physical blindness or spiritual blindness?

Imagine living the remainder of your life in complete darkness and all the inconveniences that came along with it. As terrifying as that sounds, please remind yourself daily that spiritual blindness is so much more terrifying. Live daily having faith that spiritual sight is so much more valuable than your physical sight. Thank God that you can see the faces of your loved ones, but thank him all the more for the grace to see Jesus for who he is. God deserves endless worship for this.

3. Why couldn’t the Pharisees see the truth? In what ways are you like the Pharisees and how will you change that?

They couldn’t see the truth because they did not have humility to see that they needed a savior. It’s a humble thing to see that you’re as helpless as a baby when it comes to righteousness and salvation. Perhaps this is the reason why God made human babies so helpless at birth, to teach us our dependence on God for sustenance, protection, and wisdom.

In other words the Pharisees couldn’t see the truth because they couldn’t see themselves as spiritual beggars. We are completely spiritually bankrupt without Jesus, yet we feel good about our righteousness whenever we go out to volunteer or do missions. We need to be in the posture of complete humility with our faces to the ground, acknowledging our toxic pride that makes us think we’re okay without God’s mercy just as a baby is dependent on his mother’s milk.

Let’s change our attitudes by changing the way we approach God for worship. We can often be so disrespectful and careless when joining Sunday services, but remember that we should rather be on our knees, weeping from gratitude that God would love sinners like us.
